About Me

Throughout my education and volunteer experience, I have gained hands-on experience working with elementary aged students. I have worked in many different classroom settings, each providing me with pre-teaching experience. The lessons I've learned along the way have equipped me with the skills needed to succeed as an educator. In addition, I have traveled outside the country and gained valuable experience working with children abroad. This opportunity taught me the value in diverse teaching styles through different cultures. With my experience both in and out of the country, I have learned that the common denominator in successful education is focusing on the students' needs and providing an environment that welcomes personality and caters to unique learning styles.

Teaching Philosophy

I believe effective teaching is established when a student feels seen in the classroom. I believe concepts that have been a point of struggle will begin to be grasped when the student believes in the work they are producing. When the student's needs have been met, there will be productive instruction. I want to be aware of my classroom and the environment it embodies. I strive to recognize the diverse learning needs and accommodate as many as tangible throughout my lessons. I desire to have a plan for improvement for each of my students. I believe in rigor as much as I believe in the need to scaffold. I believe that a student will find confidence in themself and in who they are in the classroom, when they can finally understand and independently apply the concept they have been struggling with. When given the opportunity to stand in front of a classroom filled with differing backgrounds, my goal is not to simply see standards click, but to watch personalities and dreams develop. As a teacher, I want to love each of my students boldly and send them out into the world fueled with encouragement and aspirations to conquer big things.
